Ladder Rules

Once registration is over, the participants will be grouped into their respective ladders.  The order of the ladder will be random and published soon after registration.  The participants will be notified by the Tournament Director when the matches can officially begin, based on the following procedures...

1. At any time, you may challenge either of the players ranked one or two places above you, by contacting that player through email. ALL CHALLENGE EMAILS MUST COPY TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR.
2. A challenge must be replied to within three (3) days or it will be ruled a forfeit.  It is the responsibility of the challenger to inform the tournament director if a challenge is not replied to.
3. The match must occur within seven (7) days once the challenge is accepted. If a challenged player is unable to play during that period, then the challenger wins by forfeit.
4. A challenged player will not be required to play more than one match per week. If a second challenge occurs within the same week, the challenged player may postpone the challenge until the next week.  (1 week = 7 days)
5. A player must play at least one match every 3 weeks, or the player will move down the ladder two places.
6. If a player issues a challenge and then is challenged from below before the first match takes place, the second challenge is suspended until the first match is resolved. For example, suppose player #4 has challenged #3, but then #4 receives a challenge from player #6. If #4 beats #3, the challenge from #6 is no longer valid. However, if #4 loses to #3, the challenge from #6 becomes valid and should be played within one week.
7. The winner of the match should report the scores. If the challenger wins, the challenger moves into that position number and moves the ladder occupants down until the position previously occupied by the challenger is filled. Two examples should clarify this.
a. If ladder player C in position #7 challenges player B in position #6 and if C wins, then C will be #6 and B will be #7.
b. If ladder player C in position #7 skips over player B in position #6 and challenges player A in position #5 and if C wins, then C will be #5, A will be #6, and B will now be #7. (C will have moved up two positions without affecting the relative position of players A and B.)

The tournament will have an official end date, and the participant at the top of the ladder at that time will be the champion. If one division is divided into 2 ladders because of number of participants, the winners of the two ladders will play 1 match at the end to determine the champion of that division.
